This body of researched drew comparison between the UK and Japanese home's and home culture. It revolved around a case study that took a participant and their home in Japan and another in the UK and compared their experiences and attitudes towards the way they use their homes. It became clear that historically Japanese culture lends itself to flexibility and this is due to a series of factors including,  large seasonal change, family culture, the use of tatami and the attitude towards private individual space.
