David Cox Architects, Preston, 2016-2018, 2019 (14 Months)
Below are a series of project that I contributed to during my time at DCA, I have also listed specifically what parts of the project I was responsible for in each project description. These projects range from smaller scale one of residential builds to 300+ bedroom student accommodation and large religious buildings.
FISHER GATE BAPTIST CHURCH REMODEL
Heritage/Hospitality | New Structural Support and Internal Remodel | Completed
The brief was presented to me as an extension to an existing student accommodation that looked to being around 30 more bedrooms to the site. This project presented a planning challenge due to its proximity to residential properties. The original massing was rejected by the planning office as it was too imposing, in response to this I designed a new proposal that mimicked the massing of the terraced house street and acted as a bridge between Terrace house and the large existing mass. second story of this project used a lightweight clad form that helps to break down the form reducing the overall mass.

This proposal was accepted by the planning office and the project has now been built.

SALT PIT
New Build Residential | 3 bedroom private home | Planning Granted
I was involved in this project from a very early stage and played a key part of the initial design and its development. This was a tricky planning challenge that required me to work very closely with a planning consultant. This project had to be designed in a way it could be constructed in phases without breaking construction on site. The house was split into two forms as the clients wanted a divide between living space and private sleeping space. The glazed entrance acts a bridge between the two areas of the home.
This proposal was accepted by the planning office however due to personal circumstances the client could not continue with the build.

SIZER HOUSE
Student Accommodation /Mixed Use| 425 Units | Planning Granted
Sizer House looks to bring a new high spec student accommodation to Preston focussing on self contained studio apartments. I performed the feasibility study for this project maximising the amount of units possible to fit on site and continued to work on this project until the planning application was submitted and the tender package was prepared. The design took inspiration from the artistic heritage present in Preston incorporating work from David Hockney into the communal spaces and to form the colour palette used for much of the build.
Planning has been granted and the project is moving forward.

PRIVATE HOME
New Build/Extension | 5 Bedrooms | Completed
I worked on this project from a quick pencil sketch through to laying down the foundations for as the build began and fortunately I revisited the project last summer after it had completed. I worked very closely with the client to design this large scale house extension which was based of an existing early 20th century home. The client wanted to match the Arts and Crafts architectural style and spared no expense to do so. I produced many different proposals for the client constantly tweaking and refining the design. I worked closely with structural engineers and building contractors to get this project on site and running smoothly as quick as possible.
All of the photos below were taken by me.

ANDREW WALLACE ARCHITECTS (3 MONTHS)
Below is a series of my work that I produced during my short time at AWA. The practice largely focusses on residential new builds and extensions in a contemporary style. During my time at AWA I designed iterative proposals for various projects, performed site surveys and modelled existing properties from them. I also created 3D visualisations and Built site models for design experimenation.
